Water use efficiency (WUE) and productivity of promising quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Wild.) genotypes grown under three water regimes

Quinoa is one of the most nutritious grains and currently has attention due to its adaptation a wide range environments abiotic stresses. This study was conducted under field conditions an arid agro-ecosystem evaluate response physiological yield nineteen elite quinoa genotypes grown three water regimes (95, 65, 35% Field capacity) using drip system in sandy soil. The experiment design split-plot randomized complete block during 2019/20 2020/21 growing seasons. results showed significant differences among evaluated genotypes, treatments, their interaction. Fluorescence chlorophyll components were sensitive stress strongly decreased at low soil moisture. (Fo) correlated with seed use efficiency (WUE) both full irrigation drought stress. may be used for improving WUE breeding programs. optimum achieved from moderate (65% FC), indicated importance detecting requirements. production ranges between 3.8 2.2 t ha-1 irrigation, it decreases reach 62.8% regimes. suitable ‘V9’, ‘Apelawa’, ‘30TES’, ‘27GR’ which produced 3.8, 3.7, 3.5, 3.5 ha-1, respectively. highest stream (1.4 ha-1) by ‘Ames 10334’ ‘QU629-99’. However, genotype ‘Apelawa’ could outperform different moisture conditions. It 1.2 thus, recommended cultivate it, especially zones where precipitation fluctuates.
